Cleanings
We offer every level of cleaning that you need! American Dental Association recommends getting your exam and cleanings every six months.
Children’s
For children we offer comfortable experience where they can watch a movie why we gently polish off plaque and scale of bacteria and calculus that can cause those yucky cavities. We offer tooth vitamins that are strong and can help keep enamel healthy and help prevent future problems for your child. We start seeing children as early as 6 months to start healthy habits early to last a lifetime.
Simple Cleaning
A simple cleaning is for those people who keep up with regular dental hygiene and probably see a dentist regularly. This basic cleaning comes with a polish to remove stain and plaque, as well as the wholesome clean we get from a Cavitron. A cavitron uses ultrasonic vibration power and water to blast stuck on calculus and give a degree of clean you can really feel. We then scaled to make sure any remaining debris is removed. Leaving your mouth happy and clean!
Deeper Cleanings
We offer two more levels of cleanings that help the people who need a little more help or have active gum disease. Only a doctor by x-ray and examination can tell if you need this type of cleaning. We will go in and make you comfortable and remove all the debris and build up affecting your wellness and health. We offer very comparable rates for these type cleanings. Contact us today for more information!
Periodontal (Gum) Care
Gum disease, also known as gingivitis and periodontitis, is a chronic inflammation and infection of the gums and surrounding tissue. It is the cause of about 70 percent of adult tooth loss, affecting three out of four persons at some point in their life. The way you lose bone is because overtime the plaque and build-up at the gum line eats away at the gum causing recession and your gum to get loose and detach from the tooth (also known as gingivitis) and create a pocket. Bacteria and plaque travel down these pockets and attach to the root of the tooth all the way down into the bone. This bacterium is commonly comprised of a very acidic nature and slowly over time eats through the bone until one day the tooth becomes mobile and falls out. Common symptoms include bleeding when brushing or red swollen inflamed gums. Sometimes there are NO symptoms at all. Know your health….make and exam today.
Dental Sealants and Fluoride Treatments
Dental sealants is a preventive dental treatment, where a BPA free plastic material is placed in the grooves or chewing surfaces of baby and new adult teeth at the back of the mouth to prevent the spread of decay and decay from forming. Dental sealants act as a barrier against dental cavities, in conjunction with proper hygiene. This procedure is safe, effective, and fast. Ask us how you can benefit from dental sealants.
Silver Diamine Fluoride
Silver Diamine Fluoride is an FDA-approved antibiotic liquid clinically applied to control active dental cavities and prevent further progression of disease. While the ideal way to treat teeth with decay is by removing the decay and placing a restoration, this alternative treatment allows us to stop decay with noninvasive methods or without drilling or using a needle, particularly with young children that have baby teeth. Treatment with Silver Diamine Fluoride will not eliminate the need for restorative dentistry to repair function or aesthetics, but has been effective at prevention of further decay. Every reasonable effort will be made to ensure the success of the treatment. There is a risk that the procedure will not stop the decay, and no guarantee of success is granted or implied. If the tooth decay is not arrested, the decay will progress. In that case the tooth will require further dental treatment such as further Silver Diamine Fluoride application, dental fillings, root canal therapy, or extraction.
Custom Athletic Mouth Guards
If you or your children are active in sports then a high quality mouth guard is a MUST to help protect your teeth and health. A mouth guard is a flexible appliance that is made custom specifically to fit perfectly to your teeth and particular bite.
Not only do mouth guards protect against tooth fracture it helps by creating a healthy space between the upper and lower jaw joints thus preventing neck injury and severity of concussions. They prevent cuts and bruises of the lips and cheeks, especially for those who already wear orthodontic appliances. Focus Dental supports the use of mouth guards in a variety of sports activities.
Dental Night Guards
Do you often wake up with a dull, achy headache or a sore and stiff jaw? Do you work a high stress job or lead a stressful life? You may have a condition called “bruxism (click for more details),” which is a habit of grinding or clenching the teeth. Grinding and clenching wears down our protective enamel layer leaving teeth sensitive to hot and cold and more susceptible to cavities.
To help relieve the problems associated with bruxism, Focus Dental can help you with a custom-made “night guard” custom made that fits your teeth, to help you while sleep and stop clenching and grinding. The night guard relieves some of the pressure of grinding and clenching and protects teeth from further “wear and tear”.
Tooth-Colored Fillings
A tooth-colored filling is a composite resin that is used to restore decayed teeth and other cosmetic improvements of the smile by reshaping, re-contouring, re-enameling teeth such as length, width, mild breaks, and stains. Composite fillings replaced the old “silver fillings” that were very unaesthetic and health hazardous. We match the composite filling to your own tooth color by using a variety of shades. Dr. Ngo is very good at contouring and creating a natural look in all parts of the mouth. No one will even know the difference, well…unless you tell them.
Crowns
A crown is suggested when a tooth has lost 25-50% of its tooth structure by either fracture or large cavity. When that much of the tooth is compromised a filling will then have a significant fail rate and is then not suggested. Dr. Ngo will build up the remaining structure if not enough natural structure is left and then we will impress for a custom all-ceramic crown that is durable and fits perfectly with all the other teeth. Proven to be high quality and very aesthetic, we have personally had a lot of patients very happy with their results. We do have lower cost options available.
Root Canal
A root canal is a procedure done to remove damaged or dead pulp in the root canal of the tooth. It is important and not dangerous as people believe it to be. Without treatment, the infection will spread into the bone causing an abscess and bone loss. A dental abscess is an accumulation of pus and highly acidic bacteria trapped in a localized area that often pushes its way out of gum or spreads externally to the face or cheek. The face has MANY significant nerves and blood vessels and left untreated could lead to sepsis or death without proper medical care. This procedure is easy and virtually pain free. By removing the damaged nerve and infection you can prevent the loss of bone and/or potential harm to your health. A root canal is preferred over removal of a tooth because if you have the choice, it’s always best to keep your original teeth.
The procedure may sound painful, which is a common misconception but the Focus Dental staff can help you get though it quickly.
Dental Implants
Dental implants are surgical grade permanent solution to missing teeth. A dental implant is carefully and safely placed into healthy bone by surgery done in office by Dr. Ngo. If bone is unhealthy Dr. Ngo may be able to regenerate new healthy bone growth by a bone graph, which can also be done in our office. Implants are permanent and stable, and they look and feel just like natural teeth. Once a dental implant is place and the healing process is complete, we make a custom implant crown that looks and feels like natural teeth. Unlike partials or dentures, these are anchored into the bone like natural teeth. No need to take out and put back in. Dental implants create the stability you need to help prevent further bone loss and gum irritation. Available in singles, bridges, and even FULL dentures, let us help you back to a natural aesthetic look and feel.
Find out if you could be a candidate for dental implants by contacting our office for a FREE consultation today.
Fixed Bridges
A bridge is a solution for a person who has a tooth removed between two healthy, supporting teeth. When a person loses a tooth the surrounding teeth will drift into its place causing the loss of the supporting tooth above it or below it and leaning of the other surrounding teeth. A bridge works by taking the two healthy supporting teeth and making them receptive to crowns, the crowns hold together a “false tooth” in the middle to trick the mouth into thinking there’s a tooth there so it won’t cause the mouth to shift. This is permanently secured in the mouth and with proper care can last a long time.
Dentures
Dentures are removable set of teeth for a person who has NO teeth left or very few. Partial dentures are an option if you have some natural teeth remaining, as they fill in the spaces created by missing teeth and prevent other teeth from shifting positions. Full dentures are appropriate if you have lost most or all of your natural teeth. “Immediate” or healing dentures are inserted immediately following removal of the bad or non-restorable natural teeth, while “conventional” or permanent dentures are placed in the mouth about 8 – 12 weeks after tooth removal. We offer denture reline as bone decrease over time to help fit better to prevent rocking and chafing. We also offer repair for broken dentures. Rush is applicable in some case but may be an additional charge.
Tooth Extractions
An extraction means to have a whole tooth or tooth root/partial tooth removed, usually because of disease, trauma or crowding. Unfortunately, some teeth cannot be saved with any treatment, and they must be removed. Dr. Ngo is very gentle and effective so results are optimal and pain is minimal. See below for wisdom tooth extractions and ways we can offer you an anxiety-free experience.
Wisdom Tooth Extraction
Wisdom tooth extraction is a surgical procedure to remove one or more wisdom teeth. Wisdom teeth are the four permanent adult teeth located at the back corners of every quad in your mouth. As prevention of potential future problems, many dentists and oral surgeons recommend wisdom tooth extraction even if impacted teeth are asymptomatic.
You’ll probably need the impacted wisdom teeth extracted if it results in problems such as:
• Pain/ Throbbing Pain
• Trapping food and debris
• Periodontal disease
• Tooth decay on wisdom tooth is threatening surrounding teeth
• Complications with orthodontic treatments to straighten other teeth (crowding)
Many people develop impacted wisdom teeth. Impacted wisdom teeth may not erupt from the gingival tissue and grow in partially or sideways – then compromising other teeth. It’s difficult to predict future problems with impacted wisdom teeth but because wisdom teeth are hard to care for we foresee possible complications in the future. We might recommend them to come out before they become a problem.
Dr. Ngo performs most of the wisdom tooth extractions in the office. In addition to making the area numb with local anesthetic, Dr. Ngo may suggest oral or IV sedation to allow you to be more comfortable during the procedure. However, if your tooth is deeply impacted or if the extraction requires an in-depth surgical approach, Dr. Ngo may suggest you see an oral surgeon.
Laser Dentistry
Diode laser has many applications in dentistry. Some areas that it can benefit patients include dental cleaning, routine dental cleaning known as dental prophy, deep cleaning known as scaling root planning, and dental debridement.
The diode laser used in our office has a wavelength of 810 nm. The high energy of laser is transmitted through a very fine tip to the area of interest and reduces the number of bacteria that is damaging the soft tissue. Laser is target specific and PAINLESS.
What does the laser do? During routine dental cleaning, the high energy of the laser destroys a high number of bacterial cells and reduces the number of bacteria present in sulcular area in between the gum and the teeth. This has a few advantages, including a lowered number of bacteria in combination of dental cleaning which will allow the gingiva (the gum) to become healthy. In most cases this will facilitate the reattachment of the tooth and tighten up. The laser also can be used in curettage and sulcular debridement. There are some studies done that indicate with a lower number of bacteria in sulcular area at the time of dental cleaning, the less risk of traveling bacteria through the vascular system. This can reduce the negative effect of systemic problems.
Check out how our Picasso Lite+ Laser can benefit you with the following:

Tongue-Tie and Lip-Tie
Connective tissues that limit and guide the movement of the lip and tongue are known as frenums. Frenums can often be abnormally tight and restrict proper movement, which causes issues with eating, speaking, brushing and sleeping. A lip and tongue tie release surgery is often referred to as a frenectomy.
Thanks to laser technology, Dr. Phuong Ngo has been helping kids who have trouble due to tongue-tie and lip-tie issues. Because a laser is used, the procedure and recover are fast and comfortable for you and your child. Benefits to using a laser for frenectomy include:
- Minimal to no bleeding
- Rapid healing and recovery
- Extremely short treatment time (only 2-3 minutes!)
- Less trauma to the child’s mouth
- Rapid healing and recovery
- Minimal chance for the tongue or lip to re-attach

Cosmetic Dentistry
From subtle changes to major repairs, Focus Dental can perform a variety of procedures to improve your smile. We can help you decide between the many techniques and options to treat teeth that are discolored, chipped, misshapen, or unaesthetic. Dr. Ngo can reshape your teeth, close spaces, restore worn or short teeth, and alter the length of your teeth as well. Common procedures include bleaching, bonding, crowns, veneers, reshaping and contouring.
Teeth Whitening
Teeth whitening is a common and popular chemical process used to whiten teeth. Some people get their teeth whitened to make stains disappear, while others just want a whiter shade. Discoloration occurs in the enamel and can be caused by medication, coffee, tea, wine, and cigarettes. Discoloration also can be hereditary or due simply to getting older. We offer a variety of whitening that fit your budget and needs. Don’t be ordinary, be extraordinary.
Opalescence Boost Whitening
For in-office bleaching, we use Opalescence Boost. Instead of using a light or heat to activate the solution, Boost uses a special chemical formulation that quickly and powerfully works to erase the look of stains. No stain or discoloration can match the power of Opalescence Boost. In-office teeth whitening takes about an hour or more and you can expect to see a smile up to eight shades lighter. Click here to see a video about Opalescence Boost Whitening.
Take-Home Teeth Whitening
Many patients choose to whiten in the privacy of their homes. Focus Dental offers the take-home whitening by Opalescence as well for dramatic results and a shining smile. For home teeth whitening, we’ll take a dental impression to fabricate custom bleaching trays, then provide you with the trays and bleaching gel. After about a week, your smile will be noticeably whiter.
Opalescence Go Take Home Kit
Opalescence Go is the perfect option for patients who are looking for convenient, ready-to-go whitening. You will continue to get free whitening gel for LIFE! [as long as you stay consistent with your cleaning schedule:o)]
Bonding
Bonding is a more cost-efficient way to fill in gaps or change the appearance of your teeth. In one single visit, Dr. Ngo can fix chips, widen, lengthen, or change color. Bonding is not as effective as veneers, which are more recommended. Bonding will stain and chip over time so it is not a permanent solution but can last several years if treated with care. We now offer a UVenner system which is a composite resin based veneer which can last longer and is more aesthetic than regular bonding. Please see Uvenner under services.
Veneers
- Uveneer – The unique, minimally invasive Uveneer direct plastic template system creates beautiful direct composite veneers with predictable shape and symmetry. It mimics natural dentition and is designed to create high-quality, natural-looking anterior restorations in one visit. Uveneer templates use innovative technologies that help achieve a refined, anatomically correct, high-gloss restoration in a fraction of the time than if done freehand. Results are both reproducible and predictable. Dr. Ngo can tailor each experience by shape and color. Each case cost on a case by case basis.
- Porcelain Veneers – Veneers are thin pieces of porcelain placed over the front teeth to change the color or shape of your teeth. Veneers are used on teeth with uneven surfaces or are chipped, discolored, oddly shaped, unevenly spaced or crooked. Little or no anesthesia is needed. Veneers are used to treat some of the same problems as bonding. This treatment is an alternative to crowns, which are more expensive and have a longer life expectancy and color stability than bonding.
Contouring and Reshaping
Tooth reshaping and contouring is a procedure to correct crooked, chipped, irregularly shaped or even overlapping teeth in a single session. Tooth reshaping and contouring is commonly used to alter the length, shape or position of your teeth. Contouring teeth may also help correct small problems with bite. It is common for bonding to be combined with tooth reshaping. This procedure is ideal for candidates with normal, healthy teeth but who want subtle changes to their smile.
Orthodontics
Comprehensive Braces
Problems like crooked or crowded teeth, overbites or underbites, incorrect jaw position and disorders of the jaw joints can be corrected with orthodontic treatments. It is important to treat these issues because they can result in tooth decay, gum disease, headaches and earaches, as well as speaking, biting or chewing problems.
An ideal time for placement of braces is between 10 and 14 years of age, while the head and mouth are still growing and teeth are more accessible to straightening. However, because any adjustments in facial appearance can be traumatic to a child during these sensitive years, parents should discuss the matter with their children before braces are applied.
And braces aren’t just for kids. More and more adults are also wearing braces to correct minor problems and to improve their smiles.

Nitrous Oxide
Nitrous oxide is a safe and effective sedative agent that is mixed with oxygen and inhaled through a small mask that fits over your nose to help you relax.
Nitrous oxide, sometimes called “laughing gas,” is one option Focus Dental offers to help make you more comfortable during certain procedures. It is not meant to put you to sleep so you will be able to hear and respond to any requests or directions the dentist may have. You can breathe normally through your nose, and within a few short minutes you should start to feel the effects of the nitrous oxide. You may feel light-headed or a tingling in your arms and legs. Some people say their arms and legs feel heavy. Ultimately, you should feel calm and comfortable. The effects of nitrous oxide wear off soon after the mask is removed.
Focus Dental wants to make sure you have the most comfortable dental visit possible and Nitrous Oxide is just one of the many ways we can help you with that.
Oral Sedation
Sedation allows dentists to create a state of relaxation to help manage the fear and pain patients may experience during dental procedures. Conscious sedation can be used to help you relax during a dental procedure. Your dentist may administer an anti-anxiety agent, such as nitrous oxide or a sedative, in combination with a local anesthetic for pain. You will remain awake and calm during treatment, yet rational and responsive to speech and touch. Anti-anxiety agents and sedatives can be administered by mouth, inhalation or injection.
Focus Dental wants to make sure you have the most comfortable dental visit possible and Oral Sedation is just one of the many ways we can help you with that.
Intravenous Sedation
IV sedation is often best for a highly nervous patient or patients undergoing dental surgery. Dr. Ngo offers that ease here in-office with a dental anesthesiologist that assists us if IV sedation is necessary. The procedure is quite simple. The patient is in comfortable and safe environment and place on an IV with saline. The anesthesiologist then administered a light sedative in small increments during the procedure to keep the patient relaxed and in a dreamlike state. The patient is completely breathing on their own unlike deep sedation and highly monitored by equipment and doctor. The best advantage is that the patient will not remember the dental procedure. If you are highly nervous, sedation might be highly recommended for you.
Focus Dental wants to make sure you have the most comfortable dental visit possible and IV Sedation is just one of the many ways we can help you with that.
